The Trip were a British-Italian progressive rock band of the early 1970s. While their career was less successful than those of Italian progressive rock prominent bands such as Premiata Forneria Marconi or Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, they were very popular for a few years, and were very appreciated by the critics, especially because of their talented leader, keyboard player Joe Vescovi, who is often referred to as the Italian counterpart of Keith Emerson.

So when I sat down to enter the competition, I thought back to a field trip in elementary school to a newspaper office where wed been shown how paper was fed over rollers as it was printed. x38xx xx The three arrows in it look like strips of folded-over paper. They knew I wasnt messing about and that I was going for it out there. Things got really interesting when I went in for competitions. In fact, I entered every national surfing competition over ten years.

The National are probably the biggest band to come out of Cincinnati, Ohio. The indie-rock group is made up of 5 band members, including two sets of brothers, who play alongside lead singer Matt Beringer. The band were formed in 1999, and they’ve been touring pretty much ever since. Their most recent album "Trouble Will Find Me", was the record that really cemented them into the mainstream. Unlike most musicians who regularly appear in the news for kicking cameras or knocking peoples’ phones out of their hands, Berninger encourages cell phone filming in his shows through his antics.

But fear not, this is all strictly pretend! Imagine theres a tin can on my shoulder, she says. Now try to knock it of. I lower my head as instructed, then lift it sharply, aiming for the imaginary can, hoping desperately that I dont miscalculate the angle and end up doing damage to her face. To my amazement, I get it right. That was good, says Waters. Now maybe try it again without smiling. Waters, known in the industry as Kombat Kate, is showing me how actors fight each other without getting hurt, and that includes sword-fighting.

The Band's first album, Music from Big Pink, seemed to come out of nowhere, with its ramshackle musical blend and songs of rural tragedy. The Band, the group's second album, was a more deliberate and even more accomplished effort, partially because the players had become a more cohesive unit, and partially because guitarist Robbie Robertson had taken over the songwriting, writing or co-writing all 12 songs. The album effectively mixed the kind of mournful songs that had dominated Music from Big Pink, here including "Whispering Pines" and "When You Awake" (both co-written by Richard Manuel), with rollicking uptempo numbers like "Rag Mama Rag" and "Up on Cripple Creek" (both sung by Levon Helm and released as singles, with "Up on Cripple Creek" making the Top 40).
